Beloved Aussie beard-rock band The Beards have declared that they will be calling an end to their hard-touring ways and have announced a huge Farewell Tour for 2016, kicking off in January in West Tamworth. The band will then proceed to the Showgrounds in Sydney, Launceston, Hobart and Devonport for their February shows and to Rockingham, Perth and Bluff Point in March.

WA performances will continue in April happening in Esperance, Albany, Dunsborough, and Bunbury while May 2016 Queensland and Victoria gigs will happen in Gladstone, Rockhampton, Airlie Beach, Townsville, Cairns, Adelaide, Warrnambool and Bendigo. Remaining Qld, Vic, NT and NSW shows are set in Albury, Griffith, Darwin, Katherine, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Ballarat Central, Geelong, Melbourne, Toukley, Newcastle and Sydney.

Just announced, the Beards have added even more dates to their upcoming 2016 Farewell Tour.

The new dates include shows in Gove, Clare Valley, Cronulla, Katoomba, Wollongong, Penrith, Wallaroo, Alice Springs, Belgrave, Canberra, Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and Traralgon. They have also announced that their last ever Australian show will take place in their home town of Adelaide at The Governor Hindmarsh on the 28th of October.

After the surprise announcement of their intention to retire from touring left many pro-beard Australian fans in shock, the band have since experienced an outpouring of support from around the country and are now committed to make their farewell tour the single biggest they have ever undertaken.

“We feel like we've achieved what we set out to achieve through music.” Explains frontman Johann Beardraven. “A lot more people have beards now than when we started out, and people now realise that beards are totally boss. We’ll now be moving on to Phase Two of our pro-beard operation, but not before we go around one last time and say a heartfelt thankyou to everyone who's come out to see us over the years, and especially to everyone who's grown a beard, or adopted a pro-beard attitude.”

The Beards, who famously only ever perform songs about one topic, will be touring throughout Australia performing two sets jam-packed with pro-beard anthems from their impressive five album back-catalogue, incorporating both the stripped-back acoustic sound that saw them crack Triple J’s Hottest 100, and the infectious pop-rock that has won them a legion of fans worldwide. The Beards Farewell Tour will give fans of the band in every state and territory one last dose of pro-beard activist rock before the four-piece hangs up its touring hat indefinitely.

“We'll still be actively propagating a pro-beard agenda – but don't expect us to be out there playing shows” Says bassist Nathaniel Beard. “Now that beards have been rightfully revived, it's time for us to take our crusade to the next level. We can't be too specific about what this will involve, but it may well include starting some kind of religious organisation, an armed military unit, or moving into the realm of children's entertainment. Whatever it is, you had better believe it's going to be very much about beards.”

The Beards are much-loved by audiences around the world for their refreshingly original concept, highly-interactive live shows and trademark sense of humour.

Don't miss this hugely-entertaining Aussie phenomenon's victory lap around Australia, starting in February 2016, with even more dates announced soon.
