After his YouTube announcement early last year about his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour, legendary music icon Elton John has now revealed details of the tour's Aussie leg scheduled this November through to March 2020. The 32-date run will kick off at Perth's HBF Park, then will proceed to Adelaide's Botanic Park, East Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena and Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Next stops will be Sydney's International Convention Centre and Qudos Bank Arena, Hunter Valley's Hope Estate Winery, Bathurst's Carrington Park and Woodend's Hanging Rock Reserve. Recently announced venues include Melbourne CBD's AAMI Park, C.ex Coffs International Stadium, Townsville's North Queensland Stadium, the Sunshine Coast Stadium and Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta.
Apart from these concerts, he is also set to grace A Day On The Green with shows at Sirromet Winery in Mount Cotton, All Saints Estate in Wagyunyah, Rochford Wines in Yarra Valley and Mt Duneed Estate in Geelong. Following the AU dates, the tour continues to New Zealand with performances at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, Mission Estate Winery in Hawke's Bay and two shows at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium—one on 9 February and the other on 11 February.
Elton John's three-year 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' global tour has already been dubbed as one of his most "energetic, dazzlingly-original and joyful celebrations" (stuff.co.nz). Some of the legendary hits in the repertoire include 'Bennie and the Jets', 'Rocket Man', 'Tiny Dancer', 'Crocodile Rock', 'Philadelphia Freedom' and more. These songs weave together a musical masterpiece that is a "reflective and stunning tribute to a great artist's career" (NME). Elton is also celebrating his 50-plus year collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin—one of the greatest songwriting partnerships of all time.
"I'm ecstatic and humbled to continue to play for audiences across the globe. I plan to bring to my final tour the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades…It’s the most produced and fantastic show I've ever done. I want to go out with a bang..." - Elton John
