LCD Soundsystem with Nick Murphy fka Chet Faker
A little less than six months after their explosive performance at this year’s Splendour In The Grass as well as sold out sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney, New York Punk lords LCD Soundsystem have announced yet another set of exciting dates for their Australian return next year. They will be tearing up venues in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in February. What’s more? They will be joined at all shows by our very own singer-songwriter Nick Murphy fka Chet Faker.
Since forming in 2002, LCD Soundsystem have filled the airwaves with their anthemic bangers including “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House”, “Losing My Edge”, “You Wanted a Hit” and many more. Fans are sure to lose their self-control as James Murphy and company play all these hits on stage alongside new music off their fourth studio album, and their first since disbanding in 2011 called ‘American Dream’. The album was released on 1 September via Columbia and DFA Records. It shot to the top of the Billboards charts and earned them two nominations—the album hoping to notch the “Best Alternative Music Album” award and its single “Tonite” battling it out for “Best Recording” at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards in January.
"LCD Soundsystem have practically made an art form of patiently and precisely bringing grooves to a simmer, adding a few clanging guitar riffs and/or frazzled synth lines along the way, and then taking the whole thing to boiling point and sustaining the ensuing thrill longer than should be possible." - Sydney Morning Herald
Meanwhile, local legend Nick Murphy will be the special guest. He is currently riding on his latest EP ‘Missing Link’, his first release under his real name. Nick’s previous releases were all under the stage name ‘Chet Faker’ which he ditched last year. This talented muso currently has five ARIA-awards under his belt since breaking into the scene in 2011.
LCD Soundsystem and Nick Murphy are sure to blast out their sets at full volume so check all their tour dates below and grab your tickets quick!
